Risk Assessment

Risk assessments are conducted at every stage of air medical transport:

  • A pre-scheduling assessment is completed to review any safety risks that may arise.
  • Once the scheduling is done, an additional assessment is done to rule out any risks associated with the operations, environment or patient’s condition.
  • The pilot considers the weather, airport, equipment and human factors to complete his flight risk assessment.
  • The medical crew then looks at the patient’s condition, human factors and weather to complete their medial risk assessment.
